Who We Are, Where We've Been...
CogniTech principals did consulting work for various clients 1983-1988, including the design and startup of a new research institute (IRIS) at the RAND Corporation. From 1986 onwards, they have concentrated on IS effectiveness issues, first looking at the human resource implications of IS dispersion in a SIM-sponsored project. From 1988-91 they conducted a 47-company multi-client research project to develop and validate a new set of IS effectiveness measures. In 1991 in a project sponsored by Chemical Bank, they established a strong positive relationship between their IS effectiveness measures and company profit margins -- a first. (See Quantified Benefits.) As their database has grown through their benchmarking work, this relationship has strengthened, and provides a direct measure of the value that IS brings to the business. Their clients range in size (based on revenue) from US$500 million to over $100 Billion, and include a number of Fortune 10 companies, as well as those in the UK, Europe, Australia and New Zealand.
